The 27-year-old man that allegedly shot at police officers and held two people hostage at the Chandler Fashion Center on January 5, is now being charged with 14 felonies that include two counts of attempted murder, three counts of kidnapping, armed robbery, six counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, vehicle theft and prohibited possessor of a weapon. USAToday reports that the suspect Adam Hernandez had his bail set to a $1 million bond by a Maricopa County Superior Court judge yesterday.

If Adam Hernandez is able to post bail, a judge ordered that he not have any contact with either his victims or the scene of the crime. This isn't the first time Hernandez has been in trouble with the law, as the man was once convicted of aggravated assault. He was released from the state prison in 2009.

The Chandler mall shooting earlier this week was quite a scare for many people in the Maricopa County community. A police report stated that the suspect fired several shots from a handgun at police officers and that he held two cashiers who were working at a Baja Fresh restaurant up at gunpoint across the street from the Chandler Fashion Center. Adam Hernandez eventually turned himself into police after reportedly talking with negotiators.

At this point, Phoenix criminal lawyers know that this case is far from over and expect that court proceedings to be drawn out for a while. More information about the criminal defense process can be found through our Related Resource pages.
